Le premier volume des aventures d'Harry Potter avait été publié en 1998, et d'abord tiré à 50 000 exemplaires. Harry Potter, traduit dans une trentaine
de langues et en braille, s'est vendu à 66 millions d'exemplaires, dans près de 200 pays et a obtenu une quarantaine de prix.

L'auteur, la Britannique Joanne Kathleen Rowling (devenue la 24e fortune du monde en 1999, selon le magazine américain "Forbes"),
a annoncé que la saga compterait sept volumes (le dernier se terminera quand Harry aura 17 ans; l'aventure commence à 11 ans).

Elle attribue son inspiration à un "déséquilibre chimique" du côté des neurones. "Tout ce que j'écris vient de ma mémoire d'enfant. Je me rappelle
extraordinairement clairement ce que c'est que d'avoir onze ans. Je n'ai besoin d'aucune recherche", déclare Rowling.

Son manuscrit, refusé par plusieurs éditeurs, a été publié en 1997 par la maison d'édition anglaise Bloomsbury.
Flairant le succès, les éditions américaines Scholactic ont fait de même ainsi que la maison française Gallimard.

Le premier volume des aventures d'Harry Potter avait été publié en 1998, et d'abord tiré à 50 000 exemplaires. Harry Potter, traduit dans une trentaine
de langues et en braille, s'est vendu à 66 millions d'exemplaires, dans près de 200 pays et a obtenu une quarantaine de prix.

L'auteur, la Britannique Joanne Kathleen Rowling (devenue la 24e fortune du monde en 1999, selon le magazine américain "Forbes"),
a annoncé que la saga compterait sept volumes (le dernier se terminera quand Harry aura 17 ans; l'aventure commence à 11 ans).

Elle attribue son inspiration à un "déséquilibre chimique" du côté des neurones. "Tout ce que j'écris vient de ma mémoire d'enfant. Je me rappelle
extraordinairement clairement ce que c'est que d'avoir onze ans. Je n'ai besoin d'aucune recherche", déclare Rowling.

Son manuscrit, refusé par plusieurs éditeurs, a été publié en 1997 par la maison d'édition anglaise Bloomsbury.
Flairant le succès, les éditions américaines Scholactic ont fait de même ainsi que la maison française Gallimard.
